ICOM
membership gives the opportunity of joining a network
of more than 28,000 museum professionals of all disciplines,
working in 137 countries all over the world.
As an ICOM member, you will be invited to participate
in the debates and scientific exchanges of the international
museum community. You may also take part in discussions
concerning the future of the museum - your - profession.

ICOM has 30 International Committees, each devoted to the
study of a particular type of museum (museums of fine art,
science or literature) or to a specific museum-related discipline
(conservation, education, documentation, etc.). By becoming
a member of any one of these committees you will have the
opportunity to exchange specialist information at an international
level with colleagues who share the same professional interest.
Being an ICOM member involves adhering to the ICOM Code
of Ethics for Museums, a general set of ethical
rules for museums and museum professionals.
As part of your membership benefits, you will receive an
ICOM card that allows free entry or entry at reduced rates
to member museums all over the world.
You will also receive our quarterly newsletter, ICOM
News, free of charge. In each issue you will
find information on professional topics related to museum
development, our organization's activities, as well as a
list of contacts of ICOM's various component bodies (Committees,
Affiliated Organizations, Executive Council. Secretariat).
Finally, as a member of ICOM you will be able to join one
of ICOM's International Affiliated Organizations.
